Experience
Kirby Power design and build transmission and distribution (T&D) networks up to 132KV. Our scope typically includes civil, electrical and mechanical construction in close proximity to live in-service equipment, pre-commissioning and commissioning. We are an approved Utility Connection Provider (UCP) under the Lloyd's Register National Electrical Registrations Scheme (NERS) for contestable grid connection work in the UK.
We are a leading windfarm electrical balance of plant contractor. From the Scottish Highlands to locations throughout Ireland we work with developers, utilities and turbine suppliers to design, procure, construct, commission and maintain windfarm electrical infrastructure. We manage all elements of work including sub-station and switchyard civil and electrical construction, cabletrenching, backfill, installation, jointing and termination, fibre optic and SCADA infrastructure, overhead line work construction and final commissioning onto the grid. We are experienced in all ground conditions utilizing specialist installation techniques such as cable ploughing for installing cable in environmentally sensitive areas. We have installed balance of plant services to over 220 turbines to-date with installed generating capacity exceeding 350MWe.

Kirby Power site supervisors are trained to ESBN PICW / SAP level. Our HV cable jointing teams are certified by leading manufacturers and approved to work on utility networks up to 132kV. Our professional engineers have extensive experience in the T&D sector and our commissioning engineers are approved by ESBN and UK National Grid.
