“Safety without compromise, is first and foremost for everyone affected by our operations”,
Ray Ryan, Group Director responsible for Environmental Health and Safety.
In Kirby Group, a 'best in class' focus on Health and Safety and protection of the Environment dictates our business practice without compromise. The nature of our operations and our multi-national client base means that our very existence as a business is determined by the successful managment of Group EHS. At all times we need to 'get it right first time ... SAFELY'. Our EHS Management Systems are OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 accredited. We are also Achilles approved and CHAS compliant. We manage Health, Safety and Environment matters internally through our specialist team led by our Group EHS Manager, Barry O'Brien, CMIOSH.
We are members of both the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and the British Safety Council (BSC) in the UK, and the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) in Ireland. We have won both RoSPA ‘Gold Award’ and BSC ‘International Safety Award with Merit’ in the UK in 2010 and 2011 respectively. In Ireland we received the NISO ‘President’s Award for Construction’ in 2008 followed by 2 ‘Highly Commended’ awards in 2009 and 2010.
Communication, participation and consultation are the core elements for effective environment, health and safety management within the Group. EHS committees, employee safety representatives, structured training programs and the use of Safety Environment Observation Reports (SEOR’s) by employees for the reporting of positive and negative site EHS issues are vital to the active engagement by all in focused Environmental Health and Safety management.
